Cookie policy

How this website uses cookies and browser storage.

Summary

DadTheFoodie uses strictly necessary cookies and storage for authentication. Anonymous first-party operational analytics do not use analytics cookies. Optional Sentry error monitoring in production does not use analytics cookies either.

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies on this website.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage used by your browser.

Cookies we use

Supabase authentication (strictly necessary)

When you log in or register, Supabase sets authentication cookies so you stay signed in securely. These cookies are essential for member features such as saved recipes, meal planning, and shopping lists.

Typical cookie names include values prefixed with sb- (for example, session and refresh tokens managed by Supabase Auth). Exact names may vary by Supabase project configuration.

Installation card preference (local storage)

If you choose Not now on the homepage installation card, the website may store a local preference in your browser for about 14 days so the card is not shown again immediately. This is not used for advertising or analytics.

Service worker cache (public assets only)

If you install the web app, a service worker may store basic public assets and the offline fallback page on your device. Private account pages are not intentionally cached for offline use.

Session maintenance

The Supabase client may also use browser storage to maintain your authenticated session between page loads. This is required for the login system to work correctly.

What we do not use

  • Google Analytics or similar analytics cookies
  • First-party operational analytics cookies (analytics are cookie-free)
  • Advertising or retargeting cookies
  • Social media tracking pixels
  • Third-party marketing cookies

We audited the current codebase and found no optional tracking technologies installed.

Embedded content

Recipe pages may embed videos from YouTube or TikTok. When you play an embedded video, those platforms may set their own cookies according to their policies. We only allow embedded players from validated YouTube and TikTok URLs.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Please note that blocking strictly necessary authentication cookies will prevent you from staying logged in to member features.

Changes

If we introduce non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this policy and provide a way to manage your preferences before those cookies are loaded.
